Don't Lift

White line, black visor, and a passenger leaning into the helmet to say it one more time. A record about a land speed run on the salt flats, counting up to two hundred, where the whole point is to keep your foot down.

About the track

Don't Lift is set inside a car on the salt flats. Heat comes off the hood, the passenger's hand rests on the shifter, and the only instruction anyone needs is the title. Then the numbers start: eighty, ninety, one-ten, all the way up, while nobody says a word because nobody has to.

The beat comes in crooked and syncopated, the drop cuts out to wind and breathing, and a whisper lands just before the needle touches two hundred. The second half turns the run into something closer: a heartbeat through the intercom, another through the wheel, and the admission that there are easier ways to get this close, but none of them leave tire marks.

Don't Lift is a standalone single and is not part of Ritual Static. Written, directed, sequenced and released by Trevin Hermosillo. Vocals and instrumentation are AI performed under his direction, which is declared in the release metadata. More on that in About.
